There you are! You haven't just come? It's exceedingly dangerous to traverse the coasts this time of day! I'm so glad you came; I find that the pleasant company of my relations calms my nerves.

Fortunato:
The Amontillado!
[enters the chamber]
Fortunato:
[Montresor chains him to the wall] What's this?
Montresor:
It is very damp here. One more time: let me implore you to return. No? Then I must leave you. But first...
[starts to seal up the chamber with bricks and cement]
Fortunato:
[screaming] NOOOOOOOOO!

Young Man:
What's that?
[heartbeat sounds]
Young Man:
Good God... the old man's heartbeat! He must be terrified!
[beating intensifies]
Young Man:
His heart will burst! Surely, it will burst! What if... a neighbor should hear?
[moves in for the kill]

Montresor:
He has a weakness - this Fortunato - in some regards he is a man to be respected and even feared. Still, he has his weaknesses.
